Range Rover Sport Launched In Malaysia From RM1.7 Million

In Malaysia, Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia (JLRM) has just introduced the 2023 Range Rover Sport priced from RM1,698,000 after duties. The Malaysian spec version of this luxury SUV gets digital LED headlights and LED taillights with rear-animated directional indicators. It is also fitted with a set of huge 22-inch Satin Dark Grey alloys.

With its flush door handles the Range Rover Sport is capable of providing a drag coefficient of just 0.29 Cd, so these stylish design components aren’t just there for show.

Under the bonnet, a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 48V mild hybrid (MHEV) system delivers 400 hp and 550 Nm or torque and is married to a smooth shifting 8-speed ZF automated gearbox.

The Intelligent All-Wheel Drive technology distributes power to all four wheels, enabling the Sport to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 242 km/h.

Built on the Modular Longitudinal Architecture that features flexible mixed-metal (MLA-Flex), JLR says that the luxury SUV has up to 35% higher torsional rigidity than its predecessor. This makes it possible for the integrated chassis control system, which has been specially tuned for the Range Rover Sport.

As a special feature, the Malaysian spec also employs the brand’s Pivi Pro infotainment system that combines a 13.1-inch floating, curved centre touchscreen which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The infotainment system also includes haptic feedback to lessen the need for drivers to take their eyes off the road.

An even bigger 13.7-inch interactive Driver Display has superb color and clarity while the company’s ClearSight rear-view mirror offers two types of rear vision—real or through a camera. The four-zone climate control system and the cabin air purification pro function are also both standard on the Range Rover Sport in Malaysia.

Managing director of retail and distribution for Sime Darby Motors Southeast Asia, Jeffrey Gan stated, “Sime Darby Motors is proud to unveil the third generation of the iconic Range Rover Sport, which is celebrated worldwide for its blend of luxury and performance. We are sure that the Range Rover Sport will establish new standards for the luxury SUV market in Malaysia, which is still expanding.
