RV Market Expected To Blossom In Malaysia Thanks To ECERDC

According to its CEO, Datuk Ragu Sampasivam, the East Coast Economic Region Development Council (ECERDC) is working hard to establish Malaysia as a top destination for RV enthusiasts, with the first RV park is expected to be completed within 18 months.

At the recent Matta Fair at MITEC in Kuala Lumpur, where the future of caravanning in Malaysia was a hot topic, the discussion took place against the backdrop of a ribbon-cutting ceremony that marked the cooperation between Asia RV and Mayflower Car Rental.

This strategic partnership seeks to enhance the caravanning experience for enthusiasts by introducing Knaus Tabbert’s camper vans to the Malaysian market. Additionally, Ragu clarified that ECERDC is leading initiatives to advance RV travel in Malaysia.

The German Caravanning Industry Association (CIVD) and Bernhard Schutte, Chairman of TAPiO Management Advisory, are two industry experts that the council has partnered with to import knowhow and premium models from Knaus Tabbert, a top European manufacturer of recreational vehicles.

The launch of these caravans and motorhomes is thought to be a major step in making Malaysia a prominent hub for the production and assembly of automobiles for both domestic use and export to markets such as Australia and New Zealand. The first model park is slated to open in Rompin, followed by locations in Terengganu and Kelantan.

Furthermore, Datuk Ragu said, “The state government is setting up basic parks to cater to current RV owners in the interim. These developments are expected to align with the introduction of new RV models, ensuring a seamless experience for travellers,” he said.

According to Ragu, ECERDC places great emphasis on safety, which is why they are collaborating closely with the Town Planning Department to create regulations for the RV parks in order to avert any needless mishaps. These recommendations, which were created in cooperation with German specialists and CIVD, are reaching the final stages before implementation.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

With safe, picturesque, and well-equipped parks for the growing RV population, this calculated move by ECERDC is poised to transform Malaysia’s tourism environment completely. It also heralds a new era in the country’s travel industry, delivering a singular and immersive experience for discovering Malaysia’s natural treasures.
