The U.S.-based electric carmaker handed over an initial batch of updated Model 3 to customers at its sales and service center in Cyberjaya. Prices start at 189,900 ringgit ($41k) for the rear-wheel drive version, which has an estimated range of 513 kilometers (319 miles) and can accelerate from zero to 100 kph (62 mph) in 6.1 seconds, according to the company.

The long-range all-wheel drive Model 3 is priced from 218,000 ringgit ($47k) with a range of 629 km (391 miles). Tesla said it can sprint from zero to 100 kph in 4.4 seconds.

Tesla said there are currently four supercharger locations in Malaysia where owners can charge their vehicles, as well as six destination charging sites.

Demand for electric vehicles is rising in Malaysia, which aims to have 125,000 clean energy vehicles on the roads by 2030. The government is offering tax exemptions of 100% on import and excise duties.

The Cyberjaya delivery center is Tesla’s main office in Malaysia, as well as its dedicated service and delivery site. The company assembles Model 3 sedans at its Gigafactory in Shanghai.

Our Thoughts

I’m thrilled for the Malaysian customers who have already received their new Model 3. This car is not only visually appealing but also comes at an attractive price point.
