Tesla’s Biggest Supercharger Station In Southeast Asia Opens In Malaysia

In Selangor’s Gamuda Cove, Tesla Malaysia has just opened the biggest Supercharging station in Southeast Asia. Under a partnership with Gamuda Land, this sizable Supercharging station features 6 Superchargers and 18 Destination Chargers.

The Gamuda Cove location is open 24/7 and has free parking. In order to discourage prolonged occupancy, a supercharging rate of RM 1.25 per kWh will be charged, in addition to an idle fee of RM 4 per minute after the station is fully occupied. For the time being, Tesla owners are able to use the Destination Chargers (AC chargers) at no cost.

Additionally, Tesla’s commitment to simplifying the charging process for customers was highlighted at the launch event. By streamlining the charging process and guaranteeing convenience while on the go, consumers may access real-time information about Supercharger availability, navigation support, and charge monitoring through the Tesla App.

As of today, Malaysia is home to 7 Supercharging stations with 36 chargers each and 9 Destination Charging stations with 55 chargers.

According to Tesla, these stations assist cross-border travel between Malaysia and Singapore, with 11 Supercharging stations and 9 Destination Charging stations available in Singapore. They also make it easier to travel within the country.

In other Tesla news, deliveries of the Chinese-made Tesla Model Y began in Malaysia on March 12, following a delay from the original Q4 2023 schedule. Customers are now receiving their new vehicles at Tesla Malaysia’s Cyberjaya headquarters.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

It’s all happening with Tesla in Malaysia. In addition to the Model Y officially being sold in the country, Tesla is further solidifying its brand by offering Southeast Asia’s biggest Supercharger station. According to Tesla Malaysia, the brand is delivering upwards of 80 Model Y cars each day.
