BYD Seal U SUV Launching In Malaysia From RM215,000

Beginning with a major expansion of its European portfolio, BYD is in the throes of debuting its all-new BYD SEAL U SUV in Malaysia.

This all-electric SUV, which starts at RM215,000 ($45,000), is designed for the discerning family and combines comfort, modern technology, and roominess with environmental awareness.

The SEAL U, which is expected to go on sale in Malaysia this month, is a sensible option for the D-segment. It comes in two trim levels, each with a distinctive powertrain setup that generates remarkable performance.

BYD has released two grades: the Comfort, which has a 71.8 kWh battery that can travel up to 420 km, and the Design, that boasts an 87 kWh battery and can travel up to 500 km, according to the WLTP test protocol.

As we’ve come to expect from the Chinese EV maker, the cobalt-free BYD Blade Battery, praised for its class-leading safety, and high energy density, lies at the heart of its persona.

The battery can be quickly recharged from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes thanks to its fast charging features, which guarantees less downtime. The maximum power for AC charging is 11 kW, while the maximum power for DC charging is 140 kW for the Design model and 115 kW for the Comfort model.

With an astounding array of standard features intended for both convenience and performance, the SEAL U is well-equipped with its 19-inch alloy wheels to enhance its visual appeal.

The SEAL U is a car guy’s paradise when it comes to connectivity, providing an intelligent cockpit system with cutting-edge infotainment features and connectivity options. This ensures drivers stay connected, including seamless smartphone connectivity through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. By enabling remote control of many vehicle functions via the BYD app on a smartphone, the SEAL U maximizes connectivity.

This covers control of the horn and flashlights, locking and unlocking doors, opening and closing windows, modifying climate control, and heating and ventilating seats. Drivers can examine the battery’s remaining charge time and range with this feature as well. The app also facilitates using NFC keys to unlock the vehicle.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

In the EV market, the BYD SEAL U stands out as a well-balanced combination of modern technology, safety, and practicality, meticulously designed to meet the needs of modern families and environmentally conscious drivers. It looks ready to compete with Tesla’s Model Y thanks to its roomy proportions, pricing, range and charging, providing a strong substitute for individuals looking for a cutting-edge and innovative electric car.
