Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Finally Goes On Sale In Malaysia

Ahead of its Malaysia debut, Chery recently gave a preview of their C-segment model, the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro. Order books have also opened for the Chinese SUV, which will be domestically manufactured (CKD) at Kulim Kedah, beginning March 25. The model will launch by the end of May for less than RM130,000.

The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro boasts dimensions of 4,513 mm in length, 1,862 mm in width, and 1,696 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm as well as a 175 mm ground clearance.

Chery Malaysia is offering four body colour options including Carbon Black, Vanilla Blue, Bloodstone Red with a black roof, and Khaki White with a black roof. In Malaysia, the Tiggo 7 Pro’s main rivals will be the Proton X70, Mazda CX-5, and Honda CR-V.

The Tiggo 7’s 1.6-litre turbocharged inline-4 petrol engine generates 197 hp and 290 Nm of torque, and is mated to a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission. With this powertrain you can expect a 0-100 km/h sprint time of under 8.3 seconds in addition to fuel economy of 7.0L/100km.

The Tiggo 7 Pro’s interior employs leatherette seats, ventilation for the front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a 24.6-inch dual-screen setup with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 50W wireless charging pad with an active cooling system.

The Chery SUV comes with a 64-color ambient lighting system and an 8-speaker Sony audio system. When the back seats are folded down, the boot’s 475 litres capacity may be expanded to 1,672 litres.

As you’d expect the Tiggo 7 Pro is fitted with all of the latest safety regime including a 540° camera system and the automaker’s ADAS 2.5 safety suite, which has 16 safety features in total. This comprises Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Blind-spot Detection (BSD), Integrated Cruise Assist (ICA), Front Collision Warning (FCW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Multi Collision Brake (MCB), Door Open Warning (DOW), and Rear Collision Warning (RCW). Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK), Lane Departure Reminder (LDR), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Traffic Jam Assistant (TJA), and Rear Cross Traffic Braking (RCTB).

Boasting sharp, well-proportioned looks, a quality interior, a gutsy 197hp engine, a full suite of the latest safety features and a competitive price tag, the Chery SUV will really give rivals Proton X70, Mazda CX-5, and Honda CR-V a real run for their money. Beginning in April, the Tiggo 7 Pro will be on display at every Chery showroom across Malaysia. Customer deliveries are expected to begin by the end of May 2024.
