Details Finally Revealed On New MG IM5 And MG IM6

Established in 1924, MG is one of the world’s best-known automotive brands. Renowned for its affordable, exciting, innovative and stylish British sports cars, thousands of these much-loved classics are still being driven by passionate enthusiasts worldwide. Since 2007 the marque has been controlled by Chinese state-owned automaker SAIC Motor.

MG Motor has sold over one million vehicles outside of China since its relaunch in 2007. This figure represents roughly half of the brand’s total sales. The MG ZS is the most popular model in international markets and has sold nearly one million units worldwide. Sold in some 84 countries, MG products attract around 6 million fans on social media. And over the years the some of the brand’s most popular models include the MGA of 1955, the MGB of 1962 and the MGB GT from 1965.

Under the Rover Group, the 2-seater MG RV8 was revived in 1992, and then becoming the first mass-produced real MG sports car to go on sale since the mid-60s,  the brand launched the MG F in 1995—a car whose very existence was sparked by the immense popularity of the Mazda MX-5 in 1989.

Today, MG offers motorists a comprehensive range of models to suit all needs including the new electric Cyberster coupe, and the popular MG ZS EV and MG4 EV and MG3.

Both petrol and efficient hybrid powertrains are available in addition to battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Praised for its role in making electric motoring fun, useable and affordable, MG provides an award-winning lineup of electric vehicles.

MG Motor UK is a dynamic and successful business in its home market. In 2024, the company achieved a record 81,536 new vehicle registrations and was the 10th best-selling automotive brand, with a market share of 4.18% and 27.2% of total sales attributed to EVs. Customers are supported by a 156-strong dealer network and a 7-year/80,000 miles MG warranty.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

One thing we can say about MG’s styling–at least the brand’s designers are trying hard, and in several cases, doing a good job of making MG’s EVs look stylish and appealing. And in a world of boring ho-hum EVs, that’s a godsend. An expanding UK engineering team, based in the West Midlands, provides key input in the development and introduction of new MG vehicles in and Europe. Meanwhile, an Advanced Design Studio in Marylebone, London has overseen the introduction of the Cyberster and plays an influential role in the styling of new MG models globally.
