Honda Malaysia Has Started Taking Bookings For New City Facelift

In advance of its anticipated debut in Q3 2023, Honda Malaysia has started taking orders for the upcoming 2023 Honda City facelift. The new 2023 City in Malaysia will have somewhat modified external styling and an updated list of sophisticated driver aid systems as part of its Honda Sensing suite, mirroring the modifications seen in the Thailand and Indian markets.

The facelift employs a redesigned front bumper design and new slimmer chrome bar atop the grille, as well as a larger fog light housing on the corners and a more prominent and aggressive lower lip.

To further turn up the sportiness dial on this B-segment sedan, the range-topping RS variant adds on various distinctive trimmings, including faux air intake garnishes, honeycomb mesh on the front lower grille, new side skirts, a new rear diffuser element, and new 16-inch alloy wheels.

Two new features have been added to the advanced driver assistance suite for Honda Sensing-equipped models: a new low-speed follow function that enables the adaptive cruise control to continue operating even in congested areas, and a lead car departure notification system that alerts the driver when the vehicle in front of them has moved ahead.

The remainder of the City facelift, however, will remain the same in Malaysia apart from these modifications. A 1.5-litre naturally aspirated inline-four engine with 121 hp and 145 Nm will carry over, while a 1.5-litre e:HEV hybrid alternative with 107 hp and 253 Nm will be fitted to the top-of-the-line RS. Its electric power draws power from a lithium-ion battery that is charged via a second electric motor linked to an engine.

The Honda City sedan is now available in Malaysia in five variants, with prices starting at between RM77,600 and RM108,800. Though most of its stable mates, including its hatchback equivalent, have already experienced a price increase here in Malaysia, expect to see a further hike in price increase as part of the facelift update.

OUR THOUGHTS

The City is one of the smartest-looking compact sedans on the Malaysian market, boasting a highly efficient powerplant lineup as well as class-leading safety features, and all starting at around RM77,600.
