Hyundai Adds High-Spec Ioniq 5 N Line To Malaysian Lineup

An update to the all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 5 SUV has recently been released. Along with some performance improvements, it also has a new, sportier variation in addition to cosmetic improvements.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has undergone a makeover, which includes new front and rear bumpers and a reworked V-shaped garnish to give the car a sportier look. Consequently, the redesigned EV SUV has gained 20 mm of additional length. Its wheelbase length, width, and height are all still the same.

With this latest update, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 lineup has added a new grade, known as the Ioniq 5 N Line which is positioned between the regular Ioniq 5 and the performance-oriented Ioniq 5 N. For a gutsier look and boost in street cred, the Ioniq 5 N Line is fitted with bespoke bumpers, stylish side skirts, and a set of dedicated 20-inch aluminium wheels. Inside, the Ioniq 5 N Line is fitted with an N Line bespoke steering wheel and dashboard, N Line metal pedals, a black headliner, dedicated sport seats with the N logo, red contrast stitching, and two seat covering options.

For better aerodynamic performance, the Ioniq 5’s rear spoiler has been extended by 50 mm. The Korean all-electric SUV now boasts new aerodynamic wheels too.

Earlier in 2022, the Ioniq 5 received an update, increasing the capacity of its battery pack from 72.6 kWh to 77.4 kWh. Now with the latest facelift exercise, the Ioniq 5’s battery capacity has been further upgraded to 84.0 kWh, which in turn increases its all-electric range, although the Korean carmaker didn’t specify by how much. The base model has a combined (highway and city) range of 445km, so we can expect at least another 10% more range with the upgrade.

The top-of-the-line Max variant’s 72.6 kWh battery still powers the Ioniq 5 sold in Malaysia. Conversely, the Lite and Plus models come with a single 58 kWh battery pack.

Increased stability and agility are the outcome of the doubled reinforcements at the rear wheel and underbody. To lessen low-frequency booming noise, the Ioniq 5’s body has been made stiffer, and motor noise control has been improved.

The Ioniq 5’s overall quietness is improved by extra sound insulation for the rear wheel motor. Moving inside, there is now a physical button that can be used to operate frequently used functions on the top of the centre console, which Hyundai refers to as the “Universal Island.” This includes features like the heated steering wheel, parking assist, and heated and ventilated first-row seats. Additionally, the wireless charging pad’s utility has been improved by moving it to a higher location.

To improve driver convenience, the infotainment and air conditioning controls have been rearranged providing more intuitive operation. The touchscreen infotainment now runs on the Korean marque’s next-generation infotainment system known as the connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), while inside, the N Line gets Hands-On Detection (HOD) steering wheel, Lane Keeping Assist 2, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, and Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

The multi-award-winning Ioniq 5 has just gone from good to much better, thanks to the subtle, yet necessary revisions on this new N Line version. Boasting newly designed bespoke wheels and bumpers, as well as more range and a tidier interior design, expect queues at Hyundai dealers to show greater growth potential than ever before. This is without doubt one of the best-looking EVs on the road.
