Finally on sale last year, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors has officially released the rehashed Hyundai Santa Fe (CKD), which has been available for reservations since last year. Vehicles are assembled in Kulim, Kedah, at the Inokom Plant.

Hyundai was offering a great engine range —The 1.6L Turbo Hybrid Plus, 2.2L Turbo Diesel Max, and the 1.6L Turbo Hybrid Max are the three trim levels of the car, with prices ranging from RM195,888 to RM215,888, on-the-road, without insurance. A 5-year/300,000 km factory warranty is also included in the price.

Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors has officially released the redesigned Hyundai Santa Fe (CKD), which has been available for reservations since last year. In Kulim, Kedah, at the Inokom Plant, it is put together.

“For a long time, the Santa Fe has been a cornerstone of Hyundai’s SUV lineup, consistently meeting the needs of Malaysian families,” said Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Sime Darby Motors Southeast Asia. “The Santa Fe never fails to please customers looking for a flexible and luxurious driving experience.”

The 1.6-litre T-GDI petrol engine in both of the 1.6L Turbo Hybrid models produces 180 horsepower (metric) and 265 Nm of torque. When combined with a 44.2 kW electric motor, this engine produces a total system output of 230 horsepower (metric) and 350 Nm of torque. There is an automated six-speed gearbox that transfers power to the front wheels.

A 2.2-litre CRDi diesel engine with 202 horsepower (metric) and 440 Nm of torque powers the 2.2L Turbo Diesel Max version. Through an eight-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox (DCT), power is sent to all four wheels.

There are four driving modes available: eco, regular, sport, and smart. The Hyundai HTRAC all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, which adds sand, mud, and snow, is only available on the 2.2L Diesel version. The sand, mud, and snow selection on Hyundai’s Terrain Mode (driving mode)

All versions have LED headlights, LED daytime running lights (DRLs), and LED taillights for a similar visual appeal. The Santa Fe also has a motorised tailboard, 20-inch alloy wheels (or 19-inch for the 1.6L Turbo Hybrid Plus), and a panoramic roof, depending on the version. Phantom Black, Creamy White Pearl, Magnetic Grey, and Stormy Sea are the four exterior colour options.

The high centre console is brand-new inside and is positioned at an angle. Instead of the conventional gear selector, it now has a button-style gear selector. The updated Hyundai Santa Fe has dual-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch touchscreen display with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and leather upholstery (fabric upholstery for the 1.6L Turbo Hybrid Plus).

CARLIST THOUGHTS

Hopefully, Hyundai will opt to discuss the automated six-speed gearbox that transfers power to the front wheels. For the time being, get used to the looks and smells of the cars as well as the tech and handling, because we think Hyundai are onto something here.
