The Malaysia 4WD Training and Experience Centre (M4TREC) awarded the Jaecoo J7 SUV high marks for its off-road performance and nimble handling after it underwent a series of off-road performance and moose tests.
M4TREC’s skilled instructors set up a range of challenging obstacles during testing, such as roller ramps, articulation tests, ridge crossings, and steep slope descents to guarantee a comprehensive evaluation of the J7 in all conditions.
In addition to passing the off-road tests, the J7 also passed the moose test with flying colours at 80 km/h. For the record, a moose test is an evasive manoeuvre test to determine how well a certain vehicle evades a suddenly appearing obstacle. In these tests, it was shown that the brand’s Integrated Power Brake (IPB) technology and its All Road Drive Intelligent technology (ADRIS) help the J7 perform better.
An M4TREC-certified instructor said of the Jaecoo J7, “We are amazed by its incredible off-road capabilities, which are best demonstrated by its flawless navigation through the challenging and rugged terrains at M4TREC.”
The J7, which was just unveiled in Malaysia earlier this month, has 19-inch wheels with LED headlights and taillights. The powered flush door handles and welcome lights are also included.
Powering the J7 is a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine that’s mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DCT). The brand’s all-wheel drive (AWD) system transfers 197 hp and 290 Nm to all four wheels.
Inside, the J7 employs a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.8-inch infotainment head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, and 6-way electric adjustable driver seat with memory, and ventilation and heating.
Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) like adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane departure warning (LDW), lane keeping assist (LKA), traffic sign recognition (TSR), intelligent active speed limitation, integrated cruise assistance, speed assistance, and rear collision warning are among the safety features of the Jaecoo J7 in Malaysia.
OUR THOUGHTS
In addition to the J7’s good, clean looks, this impressive off-road test pass mark for Jaecoo will mean that buyers will feel that much more at ease heading to check out the J7 with an aim to buying one. This SUV sounds like it might give some of the best SUVs in the segment, from Toyota, Nissan, Honda and Hyundai and real run for their money.
