Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Teases EQE SUV Ahead Of December 6 Launch

Yet another tease from Mercedes-Benz Malaysia says the company will introduce one more model domestically, and this week. On social media, the firm has released a teaser image for the car’s debut, which is scheduled for this coming Thursday, December 6. 

Based on Mercedes-Benz Malaysia’s present lineup, it appears that the vehicle in question is the EQE SUV, which is the final model to complete the EQ electric series lineup in Malaysia.

Even though the EQE SUV is hidden in the shadows of its teaser image, we can gain a little more info about the silhouette of the SUV by playing around with the brightness and shadow controls—and it does appear to have AMG wheels.

It is still unknown at this time whether the EQE SUV will be offered in multiple variants when it’s finally introduced here. But given that the other EQ series models that were previously introduced in Malaysia were all only available in one variant, we think that the future Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV will follow the other variants’ lead.

There are four Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV models available worldwide. The EQE SUV 300, EQE SUV 350+, EQE SUV 350 4MATIC, and EQE SUV 500 4MATIC are among them. Even more aggressive versions of the EQE SUV are available including the Mercedes-AMG EQE SUV 43 4MATIC and the EQE SUV 53 4MATIC+.

The entry-level Mercedes-Benz EQE 300 SUV is fitted with a rear-mounted electric drive system that powers the rear wheels, providing 245 hp and 550 Nm. Above that, you have the EQE 350+ SUV which is generates 292 hp and 565 Nm to the rear wheels, while the EQE 350 4MATIC, fitted with an additional front electric drive system, produces 292 hp and 765 Nm channelled to all four wheels. At the top of the range is the EQE 500 4MATIC which features a dual motor set-up, pushes out 408 hp and 858 Nm to all four wheels. 

For the record, a 90.6 kWh 10-module battery pack powers every EQE SUV model. As far as range in concerned the EQE 350+ SUV offers 590 km in contrast to the EQE 350 4MATIC SUV’s 558 km range. The EQE SUV batteries have a maximum DC charging rate of 170 kW that can top up the batteries to 220 kms of range in 15 minutes or less.

It seemed to be only a matter of time before Mercedes would add the EQE SUV to complete the EQ series lineup in Malaysia. With the EQ lineup comprising the EQA 250, EQB 350, EQC 400, EQE 350+ and EQS 450+, the EQE SUV will slot in nicely in terms of size to offer drivers a luxurious SUV that delivers great range and family-friendly dimensions at a price a little north of RM420,000.
