New Chery Tiggo 7 Finally Debuts In Malaysia

Chery fans, listen up. The long-awaited, all-new Viggo 7 Pro has finally been launched in Malaysia. Entering the market with the Proton X70 and Honda CR-V as its two main competitors, this C-segment SUV is locally assembled in Kulim, Kedah, and is available for RM123,800.

The Tiggo 7 Pro is 4,513 mm in length, 1,862 mm in width, and 1,696 mm in height and boasts a wheelbase of 2,670 mm with 175 mm of ground clearance. The four colour options to choose from include Khaki White, Phantom Red, Nasdaq Silver, and Carbon Black.

Looking as well-proportioned and sharp as any rival, the Chery employs standard exterior features such as LED headlights, LED DRLs, LED taillights, sequential turn signals, LED rear fog lights, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a powered tailgate.

The new Chery employs a 197hp turbocharged engine

The front-drive Tiggo 7 Pro is powered by a 1.6-litre inline 4 turbocharged petrol engine developing 197 horsepower and 290 Nm and is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DCT). With the Tiggo 7 Pro, Chery claims a fuel economy figure of 7.0 L/100 km. This powerplant propels the Tiggo from 0-100km/h in 8.3 seconds while boasting a top speed of 205 km/h.

Inside the Malaysian-spec Tiggo 7 Pro, you’ll find a dual 24.6-inch touchscreen setup with wireless compatibility for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, leatherette seats with front seat heating, and a panoramic sunroof. The SUV also has two USB outlets and a 50W wireless charging pad with an active cooling system.

Regarding safety, the Tiggo 7 Pro has a 540° camera system and the automaker’s ADAS 2.5 safety suite, which has sixteen safety features in total including Front Collision Warning (FCW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Multi Collision Brake (MCB), and Door Open Warning (DOW).

Even though the Tiggo 7 Pro in Malaysia starts at RM123,800, Chery Malaysia is also offering the first 2,000 customers a special price of RM119,800 which includes a 7-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, a 7-year free towing service, and a 5-year complimentary labour package.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

The new Chinese Tiggo 7 will take the fight to arch-rivals in the CR-V and X70 given its stylish exterior, great packaging, up-to-date interior, potent turbo engine, and keen pricing. At the end of the day, though, whether a customer decides to buy one will depend on their level of perceived quality vs price when compared to the best from Japan and Malaysia.
