New Jaecoo Omoda C9 Deliveries Start In Malaysia

According to Jaecoo Malaysia, the Omoda C9, which was introduced in December 2024, is already arriving at dealerships around the country. The new D-segment SUV comes in two different specs, with two price points — the C9 2WD for RM168,800 and the C9 AWD for RM188,800.

Keeping the price down, both variants are locally assembled (CKD) at Chery’s plant in Shah Alam. Jaecoo outlets across the country are now receiving the first 500 units, and client deliveries are expected to start soon. This stylish new SUV will come up against strong rivals in the VW Tiguan, Hyundai Tuscon, Kia Sportage and several others.

“With the help of our wide network of outstanding dealers, we’re prepared to take our customers on the next stage of their ownership journey with Jaecoo,” stated Emily Lek, vice president of Jaecoo Malaysia.

The C9 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four engine that produces 257 horsepower and 400 Nm. There are front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options, and the C9 is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission.

A panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and a 12.3-inch gauge cluster and touchscreen infotainment system display are fitted as standard features.

The top-tier AWD model comes with leather upholstery, an in-car air fragrance system, and a 14-speaker Sony sound system with two built-in speakers in the driver’s headrest for extra effect.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

The C9 is arguably one of the best-looking SUVs to come out of China and that factor alone will put it on the map–or at least get it onto buyers’ top 5 potential purchases. That fact that it has a gutsy 257-hp 2.0-litre turbo and 8-speed auto certainly adds to the tasty smorgasbord. Oh and of course, the choice of either 2WD or 4WD will attract a wide range of customers too, and who can ignore the competitive price?
