New Porsche 911 Turbo S Gets Power Boost Thanks To 701 hp Hybrid

It’s the most potent 911 ever. Packing a rather healthy 701-hp, Porsche’s new 911 Turbo S has just been unveiled at the 2025 Munich Motor Show.

The new model gets a new powertrain, revised chassis rigidity and strategic styling revisions to compete with the likes of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63, Lamborghini Temerario, and McLaren Artura. Obviosuly, the engine is the main story here. The T-Hybrid drivetrain from the new GTS, the first electrified 911, wass developed for the 992.2-generation Turbo S. A 1.9kWh battery and an additional electric motor coupled to the eight-speed PDK power the Turbo S’s two electric “eTurbos.”

Before being sent through the vehicle’s four-wheel drive system, the twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six engine generates 701 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, which is significantly more than the previous Turbo S’s 641 horsepower. As a result, the peak speed is a tidy 200 mph, and the 0-62 mph time has been sliced by 0.2 to just 2.5 seconds.

The hard-top and convertible versions of the Turbo S start at £199,100 and £209,100, respectively. Porsche hasn’t just juiced up the power and called it a day. “The 911 Turbo S is the most complete and versatile way to drive a Porsche 911. Whether in daily use, on long motorway drives or on the racetrack we have been able to make the new 911 Turbo S even more comfortable, more individual and significantly faster than its predecessor,” said Frank Moser, Vice President of the 911.

Porsche has also recorded a 14-second faster time around the Nurburgring, even though the new Turbo S weighs 85 kg more than the previous model thanks to electrification. Similar to the GTS, the 400V hybrid system features an optional nose-lift that works quicker than before and electro-hydraulically controlled “Dynamic Chassis Control” to help maintain balance in the corners. Larger brakes (front and rear 420/410mm discs) and a new, lighter sports exhaust that is “composed especially for the top model” are extra features.

With revised bumpers and skirts, the Turbo S, which is based on the facelifted 992.2-generation 911, looks a lot like the redesigned car. However, aerodynamics has been taken into consideration.

Together, the active front lip, rear spoiler, and those new vertical cooling flaps increase downforce, which is equally important considering the increased power. Additionally, the Turbo S’s drag coefficient has been reduced by 10%. A new set of wheels, featuring a pair of centre lock rims designed for aerodynamics, is also added to the Turbo S.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

The Turbo S was already a winner, and a top-notch model of the 911 lineup. The new 701hp hybrid model elevates the 911 to star status, allowing it to truly compete with hypercars like the Lamborghini Temerario and McLaren Artura.
