New Range Rover Facelift Evoque Debuts In Malaysia

SUV diehards may have trouble telling the new facelifted Range Rover Evoque and the outgoing version apart. Yes, the revisions are that subtle. Having just arrived in Malaysian showrooms, the 2024 Evoque facelift comes in three variants, with prices starting from RM498,800.

Look closely and you will notice a reworked grille, more streamlined LED headlights with automated headlamp levelling, slightly modified daytime running lights (DRLs), and new rear light graphics.

Along with 21-inch wheels, the flagship RM565,800 Lux Spec also receives the brand’s Pixel LED headlamps. Additional exterior accessories available in Malaysia include heated and electric power folding door mirrors with approach lights and an auto-dimming feature on the driver’s side, as well as flush deployable door handles.

Powering the new Evoque are the same 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 petrol engines, available in P200 and P250 configurations. The engine is mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox in both variants, distributing power to all four wheels through the brand’s all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

The revised Evoque gets choice of two powertrains

With a maximum speed of 216 km/h, the Evoque can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds thanks to the P200’s 200 hp and 320 Nm. In contrast, the P250 powerplant’s 249 hp allows the SUV to reach a top speed of 230 km/h and sprint to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.

The updated Evoque in Malaysia is fitted with the Pivi Pro infotainment system and features a new 11.4-inch “floating” curved glass centre touchscreen that replaces the dual-screen system of the previous generation.

A 400W Meridian sound system, satin chrome gear shift paddles, grained leather seat facings with 12-way driver memory, a moonlight-bezel steering wheel, and a Qi wireless charging pad are among the additional features that come standard with the facelifted Evoque in Malaysia.

On the safety side, the Malaysian-spec Evoque is equipped with adaptive cruise control (ACC), blind spot assist control (BSAC), emergency braking, lane keep assist (LKA), adaptive speed limiter, traffic sign recognition (TSR), rear collision monitor (RCM), and rear traffic monitor (RTM).

CARLIST THOUGHTS

Even before this timely facelift, the Evoque was one of the prettiest compact SUVs on the market. It now looks totally up-to-date, and the myriad of hi-tech specs and safety equipment make the new Range Rover a difficult crossover to ignore if you’re looking for a luxurious, stylish, great-handling SUV. Interested customers in Malaysia can inspect the luxury SUV at Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia’s showrooms in Ara Damansara and Penang.
