Nissan Kicks e-Power Slated For December Launch In Malaysia

After being teased as early as 2022,Nissan’s Kicks e-Power has finally been conformed for launch by December in Malaysia through Edaran Tan Chong Motor.

Although the 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS 2024) is also taking place in the same month, from December 5–11, no specific date for the debut has been announced.

The first-generation Nissan Kicks, which was initially shown off at the Malaysia Autoshow earlier this year, will be receiving a facelift even though the second-generation model was previously introduced in the US earlier this year.

As the engine does not need to work in unison with vehicle speed, Nissan says it is able to run in its most efficient state for the majority of driving situations, ensuring optimal fuel efficiency while reducing emissions. Nissan claims a combined fuel consumption of 21.7 km/L for the Kicks e-Power.

A lower engine revolution also means lower noise in the cabin, even when you need to engage all of the 129 hp and 280 Nm from the traction motor. The battery is charged solely via the engine so there’s no need to be concerned about charging.

The Kicks e-Power, which is scheduled to make its official debut in December 2024, will join a competitive hybrid SUV market in Malaysia, where rival models include the Corolla Cross Hybrid and Honda HR-V e:HEV dominate the market.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

For the record, the brand-new C28-generation Nissan Serena is available with an e-Power drivetrain in addition to the Kicks. Earlier this year, the MPV made its ASEAN premiere in Indonesia, which will also be headed for Malaysia. Since its promotional video was filmed in Malaysia, we expect that it will soon arrive on our shores as well.
