Subaru Unveils New Electric Uncharted Model Boasting 300 Mile Range

Subaru of America today revealed its all-new Uncharted EV model in New York City. The new, all-electric compact crossover is the latest addition to Subaru’s slowly growing electric vehicle lineup. It offers buyers a small, sporty CUV with up to 338 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time of less than 5 seconds, fast charging from 10% to 80% in around 30 minutes, All-Wheel Drive as standard, and estimated range of 290 miles on a single charge. The all-new 2026 Subaru Uncharted will go on sale in early 2026.

And what’s good news is that the new Uncharted can use Tesla Superchargers or the NACS system for short.

After the brand’s first Solterra EV sold in very small amounts from mid-2022, the all-new all-electric compact’s oddly named Uncharted signals the vehicle’s capability and bent to go anywhere.  It will be available in Premium FWD, Sport, and GT trim levels.

Boasting up to 338 horsepower from dual electric motors located on the front and rear axles, the Uncharted is reported to deliver responsive handling, thanks to Subaru-tuned suspension. Compared to the Solterra EV, the all-new Subaru Uncharted is shorter by nearly 7 inches but offers more than 25 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row.

Powered by a 74.7-kWh, high-capacity lithium-ion battery, the Uncharted offers impressive range in any configuration. Uncharted Sport and GT models are equipped with standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive with X-MODE, an anticipated range of up to 290 miles, and 338 horsepower—which is more than the Hyundai Kona EV and Kia Niro EV. For buyers focused on affordability and range, the entry-level Uncharted Premium FWD model provides an estimated range of more than 300 miles and 221 horsepower at a lower price point.

Seamless, Smart Technology

Inside, the Uncharted features a standard 14-inch touchscreen for infotainment, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Dual wireless smartphone chargers in the front center console are standard, and dual USB-C chargers for rear seat passengers will help keep devices powered.

A standard NACS charge port with speeds up to 150 kW ensures convenient and fast charging options at more than 15,000 Tesla Supercharger stations nationwide. In cold weather conditions, the Uncharted can recharge its battery from 10% to 80% in nearly 30 minutes thanks to an onboard battery preconditioning system. At home, a fast 11-kW onboard charger offers easy access to both Level One and Level Two charging compatibility.

The Uncharted also employs a suite of EyeSight driver-assist technologies, including Pre-Collision Braking, Front Cross Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitors, Lane Departure Alert, Emergency Stop Assist, and Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control. A panoramic view monitor, Traffic Jam Assist, and Lane Change Assist are available on specific trim levels.

Design-wise, the nose section features Subaru’s lighting signature, shared with the 2026 Solterra and Trailseeker, and features distinctive, weather-resistant headlamps and a six-star illuminated logo. It employs new 18- or 20-inch wheel designs, as well as a high-contrast, two-tone roof on Uncharted GT for enhanced curb appeal. At the rear, the sleek combination lamps, black badging, high beltline, and seamless rear design, complemented by a silver-painted lower rear fascia, add to the visual presence of the Uncharted.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

At last, Subaru appears to have an EV worth a look. The original Solterra was underpowered, overpriced and was slow to charge. This new model can charge at speeds of up to 150kW on the fast NACS system while offering competitive performance, and from what we’re told, a decent price point.
