Suzuki Jimny 3-Door And Swift Sport Get Huge Discount In Malaysia

Prices for the Suzuki Jimny and Swift have been slashed. The official price list on the website of Suzuki Cars Malaysia indicates that there has been a substantial price reduction for the 2024 Jimny 3-door and 2024 Suzuki Swift Sport, with starting prices now at RM158,900 and RM130,900, respectively.

The Jimny 3-door and the Swift Sport have both seen price reductions of RM16,000 and RM15,001, respectively. When the sales and services tax (SST) was reinstated in 2022, the Jimny’s initial price of RM168,900 was raised to RM174,900, while the Swift Sport’s price of RM139,900 rose to RM145,900 as a result of SST.

For the Jimny 3-Door, the new price cuts weren’t reflected onto their accessorised “special edition” models, but the Swift Sport Silver Edition did get a new discounted price, now at RM141,900.

Car specifications have not changed, even with their new, reduced costs. The same 1.5-litre normally aspirated engine producing 100 horsepower and 130 Nm of torque still powers the Jimny. The powertrain features a part-time four-wheel drive (AllGrip 4WD) system and a four-speed automatic gearbox.

The Jimny 3-door, built to Malaysian specifications, has automatic climate control, 15-inch alloy wheels painted a dark silver colour, LED headlights, and daytime running lights (DRLs). It is imported from Japan (CBU) and is covered by a three-year/100,000-kilometre warranty.

The same 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 138 horsepower and 230 Nm still powers the Swift Sport and is mated to a six-speed automated gearbox that drives the front wheels. The Swift Sport is imported from Japan (CBU) and is covered by a three-year/100,000-kilometre warranty.

The Swift Sport is equipped with push-button start, automatic LED headlights, 16-inch alloys, a touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, automatic temperature control, and a split-folding rear seat, among other features, in Malaysia.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

These price reductions on such popular models should resonate with buyers in Malaysia looking for a car that can either handle well on- and off-road — as per the Jimny, or a compact hatch that can motor around city and rural areas with the minimum of fuss — as in the Swift. They are also both good-looking cars in their segment and offer great value for money.
