YouTuber MrBeast Uploads Video to New Platform, Tests Ad Revenue Potential

Popular YouTuber MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) uploaded one of his old videos to a new platform on January 15th, 2024 to test its money-making potential. The video, originally posted to YouTube on September 16th, 2023, was reuploaded to X

In a post on X, MrBeast explained his reasoning: “I’m curious how much ad revenue a video on X would make so I’m reuploading this to test it. Will share ad rev next week.”

The video is one of MrBeast’s most popular, with over 211 million views on YouTube. According to analytics program ViewStats, it has generated an estimated $1.1 million in ad revenue on YouTube – about $5.20 per 1000 views.

MrBeast and other top creators are always looking for new platforms and revenue streams. With over 231 million subscribers on YouTube, MrBeast has a massive audience he can direct to new platforms if he wants.

It will be interesting to see how his test video performs on X in terms of views and revenue compared to YouTube. Many creators have struggled to replicate their YouTube success elsewhere. But with his marketing savvy and engaged fanbase, MrBeast could help legitimize X/Twitter and become one of its top stars.

The results of his ad revenue experiment are sure to influence other creators considering expanding to new platforms. Where MrBeast goes, the industry often follows.

As a parent, I appreciate that MrBeast’s content, while outrageous, is family-friendly. My kids delight at showing me his latest videos each week. And I’ll admit, I’ve grown to find them genuinely entertaining myself. They offer some much-needed laughter and a shared interest I can enjoy with my children.
