Zeekr 9X Appears To Borrow Design Hints From Rolls Royce

Zeekr is so eager to show off its next flagship SUV that it has just posted official images of the new 9X online. Watch out for the official launch later today at the Shanghai Auto Show 2025.

With its huge vertical grille and headlights built into the front bumper, the Zeekr 9X takes on a distinct Rolls-Royce Cullinan-like aura. In an effort to differentiate it from the British icon, the 9X adds a bespoke touch by dividing the daytime running lights (DRLs) into two different components.

Shifting to the back end, the 9X takes brake light strips to a whole new level – by doubling it – complete with a Zeekr emblem perched in the middle..

Although Zeekr did not disclose any details about the interior or powertrain, its Weibo post hinted that the 9X could accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in around three seconds which suggests that the SUV packs well over 600-hp. The 9X is expected to be available with plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and fully electric (EV) drivetrains, according to CarNewsChina sources.

Local reports say that the EV model is built on a high-voltage 900-volt design that can handle 480 kW of DC charging enable it to charge from 10%-80% inside of ten minutes, and offer up to 500 kilometers of range.

This is expected to be an updated version of Geely’s NordThor EM-i PHEV powertrain for the PHEV spec. According to the publication, this PHEV powertrain is said to smoothly transition between series hybrid, parallel hybrid, and pure electric modes, with a total driving range of around 1,500 km on a full charge and gas tank.

Inside, the 9X should share some similarities with its MPV cousin, the 009 that can be configured with either seven or six seats. The 009 comes standard with plush Sofaro “first-class” second-row seats, boasting powered recline and sliding functions, along with a powered ottoman.

Nonetheless, the 9X model might potentially be available with an opulent four-seater design, akin to the Zeekr 009 Grand Collector’s Edition.

Eight massage modes and a 24-way power-adjustable rear seat are components of that premium configuration. For maximum comfort and convenience, they have headrests, leg rests, and tray tables in addition to an eight-inch touchscreen tucked between them.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

Just when we thought Chinese brands had steered away from copying European icons, Zeekr boldly offers up a luxury SUV that cheekily resembles the famous British marque. We are sure though that it will offer some top-notch tech and a price far lower than the Rolls.
