Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Teases Its New GLB For Second Time

The Mercedes-Benz GLB has undergone a facelift, and it appears that the SUV will soon be unveiled since the company has once again teased it on social media. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia previously unveiled a dark silhouette of the GLB facelift’s front profile, which included revised headlights.

With a picture of its new headlights and the slogan “Illuminate Journeys With New Possibilities,” the car has been teased for the second time.

Only the LED projector headlights from the previous model have been replaced with reflector ones this time. This reminds us of the GLA facelift that was introduced earlier this year, which means we can also expect the updated AMG GLB35 4MATIC to get reflector LED headlights too.

As car enthusiasts we can only hope that the revision will not come equipped with reflector LED headlights as standard equipment, as it seems like a downgrade, not the opposite. Along with a new front grille, the GLB facelift is also available in global specification with redesigned taillights.

With the elimination of the touchpad control device for the head unit from the centre console, the GLB facelift has a more understated interior than before. Similar to the GLA facelift, a shallow storage box now occupies that position.

The brand-new NTG7 MBUX system from Mercedes-Benz will power the floating twin-screen arrangement in the GLB facelift, and we can expect wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and Mercedes-Benz’s latest cool steering wheel design.

The 48V mild hybrid (MHEV) system from the German automaker powers the electrified powertrain lineup of the Mercedes-Benz GLB facelift. Although the SUV is offered with both petrol and diesel engines around the world, only petrol engines will be launched here.

Three versions of the current GLB will be available in Malaysia—the AMG GLB35 4MATIC, the GLB200, and the GLB250 4MATIC.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

The GLB is one of the brand’s most popular SUVs given its signature design and just-right size proportions for the Malaysian market. Prices are unclear for the time being, but we expect them to be competitive when put up against arch-rivals in Audi and BMW.
