New Jetour T2 Debuts At Malaysia Autoshow Ahead Of Q4 Launch

Jetour has been busy in Southeast Asia of late. In addition to the brand’s VT9 debut in Malaysia, Jetour Auto Malaysia’s exhibit at the country’s Autoshow 2025 offered a preview of the Jetour T2 and the completely electric (EV) Jetour eVT5.

With its boxy off-road appearance, the T2 joins the likes of SUVs with boxy exteriors like the GWM Tank 300 and the iCaur 03. This chunky SUV—which looks part Jeep and part Defender—is about the same size as the GWM Tank 300, measuring 4,785 mm in length, 2,006 mm in width, 1,875 mm in height, and 2,800 mm in wheelbase.

While Jetour Malaysia is remaining tight-lipped on details for the left-hand drive T2 model previewed in Malaysia, we do know that this SUV will be offered with both plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and traditional petrol powertrains in its native China. These include turbocharged 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter engines.

Packing 184 horsepower and 290 Nm from a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine, the T2 employs a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (DCT). The 2.0-litre turbocharged engine produces a gutsy 254 horsepower and 390 Nm, transferred through an automated transmission with eight speeds.

With a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine and a three-speed dedicated hybrid gearbox (DHT) that houses electric motors, the PHEV system produces a healthy 375 horsepower and 610 Nm. Fitted with a 26.7 kWh battery pack, the vehicle achieves a 117 km pure EV range (WLTC) and boasts impressive 1.08 L/100 km fuel consumption.

The interior of the T2 features a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster for the driver and a 15.6-inch touchscreen entertainment system. Other interior appointments on the higher-spec model includes a wireless phone charger, a powered tailgate and a panoramic sunroof.

CARLIST THOUGHTS

The T2 is a striking piece of metal to be sure—even if it does seem half Jeep and half Defender. The T2 should launch in Malaysia and beyond by Q4 2025, as Jetour Auto Malaysia had mentioned in previous media reports. If the T2 is priced strategically, it could well become a serious competitor to the GWM Tank 300, especially considering the comparative pricing of the Jetour Dashing and VT9.
